“Missing Middle” housing can be hard to find. But we can help!

Join us on a walking tour of the Washburn Neighborhood to explore duplexes, triplexes, accessory dwelling units, and small apartment buildings. Historically, it would have been common for these types of homes to coexist among single-family houses in La Crosse. But these days, it’s harder to build missing middle housing.

In the face of a growing housing crisis and in spite of strict zoning requirements, some new multi-unit developments are emerging. On this tour, we’ll take a closer look at both modern and historic examples of missing middle housing

**La Crosse Housing Week offers two versions of the Dude, Where’s My Duplex? Missing Middle Housing Tour. On Wednesday, May 6 at 5pm, the tour will include more modern examples of missing middle. On Saturday, May 9 at 9am, the tour will focus on local history and examples of housing variety from the last 100 years. Click here for information about the Saturday, May 9 offering.
